The excellent visual feature this month is a screening of the cinemix of 'Koyaanisqatsi' by long time PARIS-LONDON.ORG favorite: the brilliant DJ and sound-artist duo from France Radiomentale (Jean-Yves Leloup and Eric Pajot). From 1992 and for ten years Radio Mentale has been broadcasting their own cultshow in Paris on Radio FG (also broadcasted on Swiss station Couleur 3 and Japanese Shibuya FM). They work now on very different mediums : environmental pieces for contemporary art exhibitions, movie soundtracks, sound installations, specific sound pieces for radio shows, websites, clubs, CDs or urban spaces, multimedia movie performances and also sound-design for bars, hotels & events. They are also pioneers of the "cinemix", a form of art quite popular in France, editing and mixing new soundtracks for silent movies, but also remixing and giving new interpretations of modern talking movies (by Cronenberg, Lynch, Antonioni, Von Trier, Van Sant..). Mercredi soir, PARIS-LONDON.ORG vous invite a découvrir l'artiste francais FREDDY MCQUINN dont le tout nouvel album 'Exile On Brick Lane' cree des vagues dans les quelques cercles parisiens qui ont la chance d'avoir la promo, et dont le single '16 pints' est joué plusieurs fois par jour sur Radio Nova. Si vous lisez ceci de Paris, vous savez probablement de qui il s'agit. Freddy a accepté de faire un DJ set tout specialement pour PARIS-LONDON.ORG bien qu'il soit super busy. Et nous on s'en rejouit!
Du coté visuel nous montrerons le cinemix de 'Koyaanisqatsi' par Radiomentale. Eric Pajot et Jean-Yves Leloup ces fameux DJs et artistes audio-visuel connus collectivement sous le nom de Radiomentale et grands favoris de PARIS-LONDON.ORG sont les pionniers de nouvelles formes d'expression artistique audio-visuelles qu'ils dispensent en clubs, galleries, radio et espaces urbains au cours de performances 'dessin de son' multimediatiques. Ils sont les pionniers du 'cinémix' qui est tres populaire en France et qui consiste en un montage, remixage et nouvelle interprétation des bandes sonores ou silencieuses de films (par Cronenberg, Lynch, Antonioni, Von Trier, Van Sant..). Laptop AV performance by Alucidnation (Big Chill).
Bruce Bickerton, aka Alucidnation, is one of today's finest 'downtempo' artists and is also one of
paris-london.org's desert island producers. His music is beautiful - sublime even - instantly
inducing a state of well-being, luxury and beauty in the soul.
Alucidnation takes you to a wonderful place where laidback grooves merge with ambient
soundscapes in a unique fashion. Listeners will feel an irresistible urge to nod and
groove in time with the sounds, gently slowing their heart beat to the ryhthm of fat and
melodious analog synth riffs, rolling basslines, half time house drums and dub-style mixing.
He is the live set AND the visual feature for February 2007, rolling both into one new
style of performance - a laptop DJ set previewing tracks from his forthcoming album
along with his own stage visuals in collaboration with Edit.
This will be a one-off performance put together exclusively for
paris-london.org. Absolutely not to be missed.
Bruce Bickerton, alias Alucidnation, est un des artistes de lounge les plus
accomplis du moment, en même temps qu'il est un de nos producers d'île déserte
( s'il n'y en avait que quelques uns, il en ferait partie!). Sa musique est
belle, sublime même puisqu'elle provoque un sens immédiat de bien être, de luxe
et de beauté dans l'âme des auditeurs.
Alucidnation nous transporte dans un monde où les grooves tranquiles se mêlent à
des horizons ambients d'une façon tout a fait originale. On ne résiste pas au
rhythme doux et puissant de sa musique, à ses mélodies de synthés, lignes de
basse en boucles, drums ralentis de moitié et un mix vraiment 'dub' pour
couronner le tout.
Sa performance en février 2007 se composera d'un set de DJ sur son laptop
comprenant tous ses nouveaux morceaux, accompagné de son grand show visuel créé
en collaboration avec Edit si
caractéristique de ses performances live, en exclusivité pour paris-london.org.

"When I was a kid I used to like go up the roof of my parents' house late at night and
look at stars. Those nights were usually spent with my walkman playing cassettes.
I spent a lot of hours doing that and got to hear some great records."
Using a variety of acoustic instruments, voice, field recordings and electronic sounds that only can be described as warm and comfortable, Motohiro Nakashima creates a lush sound world of delicate textures and intense peaks, laced with pure and sensitive guitar melodies. If you wish for a place to shelter in these increasingly turbulent times this might be the place.
"Lorsque j'étais enfant je montais souvent sur le toit de la maison de mes
parents tard le soir et je regardais les étoiles. Je passais la plus grande
partie de ces nuits à écouter des cassettes sur mon walkman. Durant ces
longues heures, j'ai pu ainsi apprécier des disques formidables."
A partir d'instruments acoustiques, de voix, d'enregistrements in situ et de sons
électroniques qu'on ne peut décrire que comme chauds et confortables, Motohiro Nakashima crée un monde sonore fait de textures délicates et de montées
puissantes, enrichies de mélodies de guitare pures et sensuelles. Ceci est
peut etre le refuge souhaite par ceux qui cherchent un abri loin de ce monde
turbulent.
The artwork for his latest album I Dreamt Constellation Sang is by Sergei Sviatchenko and is called "Free Horse with little white and blue spots". Sviatchenko's work is the process where news, ideas, emotions, feelings and doubts feed into the mind, and then calmly develop into a finished artwork. He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe and the USA. In 2002 he founded Senko Studio, a gallery showing emergent artists from all around the world.
L'oeuvre d'art contenue dans son dernier disque I Dreamt Constellation Sang est de Sergei Sviatchenko et s'appelle "Free horse with little white and blue spots". Le travail de Sviatchenko consiste à nourrir la pensée avec des nouvelles, des émotions, des sentiments et des doutes, qui calmement se developpent en oeuvre d'art. Il a participé à de nombreuses expositions en solo et/ou en groupe à travers l'Europe et les Etats Unis. En 2002 il a fondé le Senko Studio, une galerie d'art qui présente des artistes émergents du monde entier.
